About Arshloom

Our Story

Hi! We are Arshima Farheen and Javed Akhtar, and this is our story.

In the late 1980s, Haji Mohammad Shakeel walked through the bustling streets of Banaras (now, Varanasi) with only one vision — to turn his passion and determination into a legacy. Starting with limited means but endless dedication, he faced countless struggles to establish his place in the weaving community. His resilience and hard work laid the foundation for what would later become a trusted name in the textile world.

With his unwavering spirit, he founded RST – R Seema Textiles, a brand built on values of quality, authenticity, and tradition. Over the years, RST earned recognition for its fine craftsmanship and became a symbol of trust among customers across India.

Today, through Arshloom, we carry forward his dream — blending timeless Banarasi heritage with modern elegance, and sharing the art of weaving with the world.

Why Arshloom?

All thanks to the Almighty who blessed Haji Mohammad Shakeel and his wife Farzana Bibi with a daughter during the most testing times of their lives. The late 1990s were filled with financial struggles and hardships, yet they never lost faith in their business and in the values of honesty, patience, and resilience. In 1999, when their daughter was born, it became a ray of hope amidst the challenges they were facing.

After six years, in 2006, they were once again blessed — this time with a son. Both children grew up watching their parents’ endless dedication, sacrifices, and determination to keep their dream alive. The weaving trade was not just a livelihood, it was their identity and pride.

As the years passed, the daughter and son stepped forward to carry the same legacy. Today, they stand strong, handling their father and mother’s work with love, responsibility, and vision. And thus, Arshloom is not only a business name — it is a story of family, faith, and perseverance.

A New Beginning

We, a sister and brother, decided to create an Instagram page in the name of my sister Arshima, which we called Arshloom. Starting from zero despite having an established wholesale business was a tough decision. But we had to do something different this time. We couldn’t just sit idle hoping for better days. And Arshloom has been a blessing for both of us.

You can put all of your trust and faith in God, but you have to learn how to tie your camel first. So, we started posting pictures and videos of our sarees on Instagram and began reaching out to people. We focused on offering the best customer experiences to gain the trust of our buyers. And luckily, we became a family of 2K followers on the very same day when we were celebrating Arshima (Arshloom’s) 25th birthday. We took this as a sign, and we decided to take a bold step of launching our website.
